A manufacturing company has been fined after a dad was drawn into a machine and broke his arm in two places. Paul Pearce, a father-of-two from Lymington in Hampshire, was unable to work for over a year following the incident on 12 March 2021.

A vape liquid manufacturing company in Manchester has been fined after a worker lost two fingers and a thumb while clearing a blockage in a packaging machine. The agency worker at VN Labs Ltd was operating a nicotine liquid pod packaging machine at the firm’s premises on Beacon Road, Trafford Park, when it became blocked on 22 October 2020.

After months of controversy and opposition in the House of Lords, the government has now replaced the overarching sunset clause in the Retained EU Law Bill (the 'Bill') with a list of the 600 pieces of retained EU law that it intends to revoke by the end of 2023. Although the Bill is still making its way through Parliament, with amendments to the text still being considered, it now seems that the Bill will not bring any major changes to health and safety or environmental law in the UK.

Safran Seats GB Limited was carrying out work to vacate its premises in Llantarnam Industrial Park in Cwmbran when the incident happened on 19 May 2020.

HSE principal inspector Amy Kalay explains how a wall collapse at a metal recycling site in Birmingham left five workers dead and two company directors facing nine months in jail. On 7 July 2016, five agency workers were part of a team clearing swarf from a metal recycling bay at a site operated by Hawkeswood Metal Recycling Ltd and Shredmet Ltd (now operating as Ensco 10101 Ltd) in Birmingham. Around 15 minutes after the men started work, the 12ft-high, 45-tonne wall of the bay – made up of 30 concrete blocks – collapsed, killing the men instantly.
